Alison Cooley at the Akin Vitrine Gallery

For February and March, Alison Cooley’s (@impinasweater) installation ‘OUTER SPACE IS REAL’ has transported the Akin Vitrine Gallery into the stars. Whippersnapper 101 Workshops

Join Whippersnapper Gallery for a weekly workshop series for emerging/underdog artists, sharing practical skills and ethical frameworks for developing your artistic career with intention, integrity, and sustainability. 

How can artists navigate the cultural industry as workers, especially those of us without institutional access and resources? How do we collaborate rather than compete with each other? How do we use a screwdriver? How do we go about building the practices and relationships we need to materialize our creative and political visions?

Open to all, and free to attend.

Presented in collaboration with Akin and the Toronto Arts Council. We encourage participants to attend multiple workshops–but this is entirely optional.

Paper Sculpture & Exploring Printmaking
Workshops at Remote Gallery 

Date: Saturdays, April 4, 11, 18 & 25 (4 sessions)
Paper Sculpture: 10am -1pm
Exploring Printmaking: 2 - 5pm

Cost: $320 covers all four sessions 

Join artist and Akin member Sarvenaz Rayati for this hands-on, exploratory workshop series focused on intuitive making and visual storytelling through Paper or Printmaking. Over four Saturdays, you’ll experiment with water marbling, staining, paper sculpture, and book art—discovering the expressive potential of paper as both material and narrative OR explore printmaking through linocut, scratch foam, and monoprint techniques.

Views from the Machine at Remote Gallery

Date: Saturday March 28, 2026, 1pm–4pm
Location: Remote Gallery, Gallery A, 568 Richmond St W
Cost: $95

Views from the Machine is for cultural practitioners, educators, facilitators, and curious thinkers who want to move beyond abstract conversations about AI and into direct, embodied experience with how these systems actually work.

It's an in-person workshop that will use experimental arts practices to contextualize and frame the evolving field of computer vision and machine learning for participants. Akin member Benjamin Lappalainen (@blapcode) and Luisa Ji (@luisalyji) are the facilitators of the workshop.

Our friends at Collective Arts Brewing have their Call for Art open now, with a deadline of March 31.

They’re looking for original artwork to feature on their limited-edition beer, cider, and merchandise labels—selected artists receive payment, product, and wide exposure through national distribution.
