  • Booking Requirement: No drop-ins. Book in advance using your Akin Membership Account.

  • Follow Policies: When using the Flex Space you must adhere to Akin’s Code of Conduct, Health & Safety and Guest Policy

  • Cleanliness: Leave the space in good condition, cleaning supplies provided.

  • Usage Restrictions: No parties, performances, public events or meals. The space is strictly for work-related activities.

  • Accountability: Damage or policy violations may lead to loss of booking privileges or loss of Akin Membership.

This is a short-term “pilot project” for Akin. We will be running the pilot project for three months and then assess it to determine if it will continue or not based on how often it is used.

What the Flex Space be used for:

What is the Flex Space can not be used for: 

❌ Performances or gallery-like events 

❌ Social events or parties 

❌ Meals, eating or drinking

❌ Rehearsal space which includes music 

❌ Messy creative work that will leave a permanent mess (example: ink stains on the floors or tables)

 ❌ Work with strong scents like using essential oils

For Akin Members from other locations:

In order to accommodate artists from other Akin locations we have created a “Flex Membership” option so non-Davisville members can still access the Flex Space. This is a limited opportunity - we have ten Flex Memberships available. You must be a member at another Akin location to become a Flex Member at Akin Davisville. 

A Flex Membership at Akin Davisville is $75/month (in addition to your regular monthly Studio Membership fees). The $75/month includes 2 hours in the Flex Space each month ($30 value). You can purchase more time in the Flex Space for $15/hour if you need more than 2 hours per month. 

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Hourly Booking: Reserve the space for $15 per hour using purchased credits through your Akin Membership Account. 1 credit is $15 and can be used to book the space for 1 hour.

  • Furnished for Flexibility: Equipped with folding tables and chairs for versatility, as well as an extension cord and cleaning supplies. One wall has been equipped with hardware to hang your work for documentation purposes.

  • Adherence to Policies: The Flex Space is governed by our existing policies. All members must follow our Code of Conduct, Health & Safety and Guest Policy when using the Flex Space.

  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Users are responsible for leaving the space tidy and clear after each use, consider this when booking time. If you put holes in the walls there will be a patch kit for repairing the holes. There will be cleaning supplies in the space for you to use. Leaving a mess in the Flex Space will not be tolerated. Anyone doing so will have their Flex Space privileges revoked.

  • Unauthorized Access: Accessing the Flex Space without booking it in advance will not be tolerated. Anyone found to be using the space without booking it will be given  one warning and if the rule is violated again your Akin Studio Membership may be terminated.

Guests:

Flex space users will be allowed to host guests in the Flex Space for classes, collaborations, workshops, etc. However, host flex members are accountable for their guests at all times while they’re inside Akin Davisville. Guests are prohibited from wandering the building, entering studio spaces or touching member’s belongings. Guests are required to use the wash-up sink and bathrooms on the 1st floor only. 

Upon arrival at Akin Davisville, instruct your guests to use the doorbell. Do not prop the door open or share the door codes with any guest. Failure to comply with this rule can jeopardize the hosts’ membership at Akin. 

When hosting guests in the Flex Space you must abide by the Akin Guest Policy. Please ensure you read and understand the guest policy before hosting your class, workshop or meeting.

How to Book the space:

 

  1. Login to your Akin Membership account at  https://akincollective.pickspace.com/

  2. Select “Meeting Rooms” from the “Rooms” Menu item on the Sidebar. 

  3. Make sure “DAV Akin Davsiville” is selected under the Location drop-down. 

  4. You can view the Calendar by day, week or month to see what is available. 

  5. To Book time in the Flex Space select the “Book” Button.

  6. In the Pop Up menu choose your name under the “Name” heading, then your date and time and time of your Booking. Click the “Book” button at the bottom of the pop-up to complete the booking. 

  7. You will receive an email with the access information for the Flex Space, and a confirmation of your booking date and time. 

Remember to ensure to book enough time for both your activity and set-up and clean-up.

 

How to Purchase Credits:

  1. Login to your Akin Membership account at  https://akincollective.pickspace.com/

  2. Select “Meeting Rooms” from the “Rooms” Menu item on the Sidebar. 

  3. Make sure “DAV Akin Davsiville” is selected under the Location drop-down. 

  4. To purchase credits select the “Purchase Credits” button and then “Purchase Annual Credits”.

  5. In the pop-up window, select how many Credits you would like to purchase then select ‘Purchase’.  (1 credit = 1 hour, $15 per credit). You can select between 1-10 credits at a time.

  6. A new tab will open up on your Web Browser with an invoice for your Credits Purchase. Select the “One Time Payment” button at the top of the invoice, then in the pop-up window select “Credit Card Payment” from the drop-down menu. Fill out the form with your Credit Card information then select “Agree and Charge”. 

  7. The invoice will then be paid, you can view or download it through your Akin Membership Account. The Credits you purchased will be added to your account for booking and will expire 1 year after the purchase date. 

 

Credits are $15 each which includes HST. 1 Credit is 1 hour of booking time in the Flex Space. You must purchase credits through your Akin Membership Account. Currently the only payment method is Credit Card for purchases of less than 10 crredits at a time, which means there will also be a 2.9% fee applied at the time of payment. To purchase 10 or more credits and pay by etransfer follow the steps below:

 

How to Purchase Credits and pay by etransfer: 

Follow the steps above and in step 5, select 10 Credits from the Pop Up window. Once the invoice is created in a new tab in your web-browser, close the tab and email info@akincollective.com letting us know you have created the invoice and will be paying by etransfer. Send your etransfer payment of $150 to Akin and allow 2-3 business days for processing. The minimum purchase amount is 10 credits for payment by etranfser. 

To view your Bookings or to see how many Credits you have, select the “Dashboard” Menu item then scroll down on the Dashboard to the section labelled “Credits” or “Bookings”. 

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Why is nothing happening when I select “Purchase Credits”?
The most common issue is that you do not have the correct location selected in the drop-down menu. Be sure to select “DAV Akin Davisville” as your location before purchasing credits.

How Many Credits do I have?
In your Akin Membership Account, select the “Dashboard” Menu item then scroll to the bottom of the page. You can view how many Credits you have, as well as a list of our Bookings.

Can I cancel a Booking?
Yes. In the “Meeting Rooms” Menu, select “DAV Akin Davisville” from the location drop-down. Find your booking in the Calendar and click on it then click on “Cancel”. In the pop-up window select “Delete this Booking”. You can only cancel a booking that is in the future, not the past.

How do I access the Flex Space?
When you complete your booking you will get an automatic email sent to your inbox with access instructions. 

Can I book the Flex Space for more than 1 hour?
Yes. You can book the Flex Space for as long as you want as long as there is time available in the Calendar.

Why is there a Credit Card Fee when I purchase Credits? 
The 2.9% fee applied to Credit purchases is a payment processing fee which is given directly to our payment processor service provider, not to Akin. 

How can I purchase Credits and pay with etransfer?
Follow the steps above and email info@akincollective.com to purchase credits and pay by etransfer. You must purchase 10 or more credits in order to do this. Please allow 2-3 business days for your request to be processed.

Is there a discount if I purchase credits in bulk?
Credits are priced at $15 each, with no bulk discount currently available. The price includes HST.

Do credits expire?
Yes, credits expire after 12 months after purchase. 

What’s the minimum credit purchase?
There is no minimum or maximum for Akin Davsiville Members. Those with a “Flex Membership” must purchase a minimum of 2 credits per month which are included in your monthly Flex Membership invoice. You can purchase more than 2 per month if you have a “Flex Membership”.

What is a “Flex Membership?” 
A Flex Membership is for Akin Members from other studio locations that would like to be able to book the Flex Space. The cost of a “Flex Membership” is $75/month in addition to your monthly studio fee at the other Akin location. The $75 includes HST as well as 2 credits each month. You may purchase additional credits if you wish. You may cancel your Flex Membership at any time and still maintain your studio membership at the other Akin location.
