"PETROPOLIS: AERIAL PERSPECTIVES ON THE ALBERTA TAR SANDS"

Greenpeace Canada & Mongrel Media are proud to present Peter Mettler's latest film:

"PETROPOLIS: AERIAL PERSPECTIVES ON THE ALBERTA TAR SANDS"

Royal Cinema, 608 College St. Toronto. Jan 22 to 27

Shot primarily from a helicopter, filmmaker Peter Mettler's "Petropolis: Aerial Perspectives on the Alberta Tar Sands" offers an unparalleled view of the world's largest industrial, capital and energy project.

Canada's tar sands are an oil reserve the size of England. Extracting the crude oil called bitumen from underneath unspoiled wilderness requires a massive industrialized effort with far-reaching impacts on the land, air, water, and climate.

It's an extraordinary spectacle, whose scope can only be understood from far above. In a hypnotic flight of image and sound, one machine's perspective upon the choreography of others, suggests a dehumanized world where petroleum's power is supreme.

Please join us for a unique cinematic experience at the Royal, Toronto (608 College St.) at the following times:

Friday 22nd January - 7:00pm
Saturday 23rd January - 7:00pm
Sunday 24th January - 4:30pm and 7:00pm
Monday 25th January - 7:00pm
Tuesday 26th January - 7:00pm
Wednesday 27th January - 7:00pm

In conjunction with the screenings there will be a Q+A with a host of speakers, including film-maker Peter Mettler and Greenpeace Canada's Executive Director, Bruce Cox.

Tickets will be available at the Royal on the day of performance, 30 minutes before each screening, so arrive early to ensure entry. Ticket price is $10 (general admission), $8 (students + seniors).

The film has already toured several international festivals receiving prizes at Festival dei Popoli and Visions du Réel. For more information please follow the links below:

The Audio Blood Office

Hey there,

Just took some photos of the Audio Blood office where Sari and her crew manage and do publicity for a bunch of local bands including mine and Mike's:
Make Your Exit
Check out the AB site for more info on bands they represent: www.audiobloodmedia.com

The reason why we actually took these photos was cause Eye Weekly is doing a bit on them for their My Place section. We'll post that article once it's out. But for now...

Art Off The Lot Exhibition

Hi there,

Just want to let you all know about an upcoming art show that you might be interested in applying for. Deadline is September 4th.
Check out the info below and pass it on to any friends you think might be down.

__________
The Cryptic Canvas (TCC) Event Gallery is hosting a juried, indoor artists exhibition, ART off the Lot, November 5th - 8th. It is being independently run...needless to say it will be a lot more original, creative & fun! TCC is very much a gallery that acts in the interest of the artist. The show is only $500 for an indoor venue (which is half of all other indoor exhibitions) & we are not up-charging on extras (ie. walls, electricity, etc. Our cost is the artists cost). We also have a large portion of the budget dedicated to advertising.

The application deadline is SEPT 4th!
(don't worry the ap is not that complicated)

If you would kindly pass these links along to any & all that may be interested it would be much appreciated!

Here they are...

Photo Studio Info

Hi there,

We finally took some photos of our photography studio (woah that's so meta...) but it's hard as all hell to take photos of a small room. Here goes though...
p.s. There's more info at the bottom of this post.

This is one of the members of Slow Club from the UK being shot by Pete Ohs from the US

Basically, to describe it, the space is 15'x15' with 14' ceilings. It is separated from our art studio by a massive curtain, which can be opened to allow photographers to shoot with longer lenses. We also have a loading dock into the studio which makes it easy to transport equipment in and out.

Our rates are:
$15/hr
$50/4hrs
$100/10hrs
Monthly memberships are $100/mth and then 50% of the rate for each use.

Please let us know if you'd like to book our studio, even on short notice.
Thanks

p.s. Here's the music video Slow Club were working on in the photos above. Click me.
