During this workshop artist Andrew Maize will guide participants through the construction and flight of their very own serpent kite.
Maize will present a brief introduction to kites and kite making. Participants will then be guided through the creation of their own serpent kite followed by flight time in the park. All kites will be constructed with the use of recycled plastic bags.
This workshop is suitable for all ages and experience levels. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All Materials are provided but participants are welcome to bring some special stickers or markers to decorate their kites.
About the Instructor:
Andrew Maize is an interdisciplinary artist and kite-maker based in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. As an arts educator and organizer, he is involved in collaborative projects such as White Rabbit Arts, the Circus of the Normal and the Lunenburg School of the Arts. Maize studied poetry, children’s literature and music history at Fanshawe College in 2005 and received a BFA Interdisciplinary from NSCAD University in 2011. Maize was shortlisted in the RBC Painting Competition in 2015 and 2016.

The workshop will be held in Sorauren Avenue Park by the Sorauren Town Square (southeast corner of the park). The address is 289 Sorauren Avenue. The park is fully accessible with a barrier-free entrance. There are no steps to access the park.
