Akin Richmond-Portland is coming November 1st!
We’re excited to announce our newest studio location, Akin Richmond-Portland. Located at 555 Richmond Street West, right next door to our current studio location Akin Richmond-Bathurst and just across the street from Akin’s Remote Gallery.
With this new studio location, we’re hoping to further address the many artists practising in the downtown core. We’re so glad to provide much-needed additional space in this neighbourhood. The studio is in proximity to OCADU, the Toronto School of Art, 401 Richmond, DeSerres, Gwartzmans and Michaels, and many independent galleries.
Akin Richmond-Portland is a 7000 sqft studio split between two units on the tenth floor of a multi-use office building. The studio has large windows which face south, east and west. Akin Richmond-Portland has 39 dedicated studios, including 13 private studios. Dedicated studios range from 25 sqft ($195/month) to 300 sqft ($1100/month). There are two kitchenettes, a communal area and bathrooms, one of which is a universal bathroom, which are shared with the other businesses on the floor. There is paid parking outside the building on Richmond Street West.
The shared space at Akin Richmond-Portland is positioned next to a large east facing window. It has tables, chairs, drying racks, shared storage, and easels. The shared space can accommodate 10 shared members for $82/month.
Akin Richmond-Portland is near Queen Street West and Bathurst Street, King Street West and Spadina Ave. The studio is 200m from the Queen streetcar, east and westbound, and 110m from the northbound Bathurst streetcar and 210m from the southbound Bathurst streetcar. Osgood Station is the closest subway station, which is 1.4 km away.
