Artist Opportunities - Winter 2025 Edition

This winter, take some time to set yourself up for success with some of these fantastic opportunities and calls for submissions with deadlines in February and March. As artists, we know that putting yourself out there can feel daunting, but we believe in you! 


Toronto Arts Council, Visual Artist Program, Creation

Submission deadline: Rolling

This grant funds up to $10,000 in direct costs of the production of new visual arts projects. Visual Arts includes drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, printmaking, performance art, installation and fine crafts and more. The Visual Artists Program does not include film or video makers: they apply to the Media Artists Program.

Call for Performance Art: Silt: Freshwater Edition

Submission deadline: February 24th

Silt is an evening of performance. Through a public open call, five artists are each provided with 15 minutes to present an action, event, or performance. Silt was originally started for dance, movement, and performance artists; however, it is open to everyone regardless of artistic or personal identifications. The aim of Silt is to provide participants with an accessible low stakes stage for experimentation and expression.

Performance date is April 3rd at 8pm in the Sanctuary space at 918 Bathurst, Toronto

Call for Artists: Langs Drive Public Art Installation

Submission Deadline: March 31st

The Region of Waterloo invites artist teams to submit proposals for a permanent public art installation in front of the future Langs Drive housing redevelopment in Cambridge, Ontario. The redevelopment will include nearly 100 new affordable housing units, focusing on energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

They are seeking proposals from artist teams of one emerging artist and one more experienced artist. At least one artist from the team should identify as a member of the Black, Indigenous, people of colour (BIPOC) community. The artwork will be a permanent installation in front of the future Langs Drive building, across from William G. Davis Public School and near a Teen and Youth Centre.

Calls for Artist Submissions: 2026 Programming at Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art, Kelowna BC

Submission deadline: March 17th

The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art is a non-profit artist-run centre operated by the Okanagan Artists Alternative Association.

Call for Artists: Lake Superior Provincial Park Artist in Residence, Wawa ON

Submission deadline: March 31st

Open to all visual artists whose work relates to the natural environment working in any medium. Selected artists receive a $1500 honorarium and 1 week of camping at Lake Superior Provincial Park to focus on their artistic practice, develop new work, and share their work with park visitors.
