Forge Workshop Series: Glass Mosaic Workshop - January 16

January 07, 2017 by Jen Pilles in Event

Monday January 16 / 6:30-8:30pm / Akin Dufferin - 444 Dufferin St - Unit E
$25 per person - all materials included / Get your tickets here: http://universe.com/mosaicworkshop

Learn the foundations of mosaic art using regular and tempered glass as your tesserae*. It's suggested that students bring a collection of small images, text on paper or crafted paper pieces like Washi to include in their mosaic. We will practice an overlay technique using tissue paper, glitter and more. Glass mosaics beautifully and permanently encapsulate your treasures underneath each piece of glass. No prior mosaic knowledge necessary. All levels welcome.

About the Instructor:
Elena Martoglio has been cast over by the magic and beauty of mosaic art since a trip to Barcelona, Spain over a decade ago. She creates exclusive hand made mosaics for homes and has collaborated in unique, public mural projects in Cordoba, Argentina and Toronto. She is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and is currently devising a large mural project this coming Spring, with the arts community is Salmon Arm, BC.

Call for Submissions - City of Craft 2016

August 09, 2016 by Jen Pilles in Call for Submissions

Hear ye, makers, far and wide, applications are now open for the 10th Anniversary edition of City of Craft !

What is City of Craft?
City of Craft is a collective of craft-engaged arts organizers who aim to build community in the Toronto craftscape, support independent craft businesses, and encourage the larger community to get involved with crafty happenings in the city. We organize Toronto's largest independently-run, juried craft show each December featuring craft-based installations, free workshops, and craft-related programming in local businesses and galleries, attracting approximately 5,000 attendees.

TIPS:
1. Do not delay! And do not leave your application until the last minute. The internet can be testy, so it is always best to submit well in advance of the deadline in order to make sure your form submits properly and to avoid any technical stresses. As always, we are not able to accept any applications after the deadline and can only accept applications through our online form.
2. Read the Vendor FAQ . It is chock-full of important stuff, and is required reading for all applicants.

So get on it, citizens! Throw your business in the ring to be part of Toronto's craftiest weekend of the year!

APPLICATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 10, 2016, MIDNIGHT EST
