In the Round opening reception this Thursday

Graven Feather presents In the Round V opening this Thursday from 7-10pm at 906 Queen St West. Featuring hundreds of new original works by local and international artists including Rebekah Andrade, ClayGirl Ceramics and Erin Candela of Akin Dufferin. Laura Elliot, Julianne Ess, and Jen Pilles of Akin Lansdowne. Bernadette Peets of Akin Dupont and Renee Castonguay of Akin Sunrise. 

In The Round is an open call art exhibition that encourages artists to work in any medium yet on the same platform. Each artist is given three 6" rounds on which to create their work. The result is a collection of work which is varied and each piece is spectacular in it's uniqueness. The rounds will be sold directly off the wall so for the best view of the show be sure to arrive early!

Established in 2011, Graven Feather is an arts space committed to working with emerging artists. Starting 2017 we made a big change from our West Queen West location.  We have started a nomadic year and will be leading events and workshops throughout the city.  We have also launched residencies and classes from our new cozy studio in the Junction Triangle.

On the last Wednesday of every month Akin host’s a relaxed and fun ‘Show and Tell for Artists’ at one of the Akin Collective studios. This is a time for Akin members and other Toronto artists to show completed works or works in progress and get friendly feedback and answers from their peers in a casual studio setting.

This special edition of the Akin Show & Tell will be the first event at our new location at 100 Sunrise Avenue! Join us to celebrate the launch of our new studios and event space!

Feel free to bring art to share, bring a friend or two, bring snacks or drinks or just bring yourself! Come for the conversation or just to meet people and hang out.

Akin Creative: Valentine’s Card Making Party!

February 9 / 6:30-8:30pm / Akin Lansdowne - Studio 101 -  87 Wade Ave

Come make a Valentines card for your sweetheart, best friend, enemy or a stranger! This is a hands-on work session for you to have some fun with glitter and glue and make a card or two! Bring a friend, a snack, and your creativity!

Participants will be provided with one piece of heavy-duty hemp card stock, cut and scored to make a 4”x6” card as well as a 4”x6” envelope. You can purchase more card stock and envelopes at the event for $0.50 each ($1 per set). We will also have beer for sale!

Akin Show & Tell 50! Time to party!

This month will be our 50th Show & Tell event! Hooray!

Akin Collective members and friends gather together on the last Wednesday of every month to share their creative work, and work-in-progress and get friendly feedback and answers from their peers in a casual studio setting.

It is time to celebrate 50 months of community, conversation and collaboration - let's make this months' Show and Tell one to remember! We will order pizza and have cold drinks ready for you!

Bring a friend or two, bring some work to show, bring some snacks and drinks! Come for the conversation or just to meet people and hang out and celebrate with us!
