Encounter
A moment when the body meets itself. A body that has been named, shaped, watched, controlled, and defined; first here, then there, in different ways, under different systems.

I think about the layers that accumulate on the body; the things it learns to carry, the shapes it is expected to take, and the ways it is asked to remain recognizable. But the body does not stay still.

It stretches.
It shifts.
It fragments.
It resists.

In Encounter, materials become a way of speaking through this moment. Clay fragments, elastic cords, knots, and pieces of mirror hold tension between connection and rupture, between being held and coming undone.
I am interested in the moment when the body exceeds the shape given to it.

A body still becoming.
A body that moves between forms.
A body that leaves room for what has not yet been defined.
