Akin is excited to exhibit at ZINE DREAM 12 alongside over 100 creative vendors at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada (MOCA). Exhibitors will be showcasing self published books, comics, music, zines, handmade crafts, prints & much more! One day only!

Akin artists Jenn Woodall, Loretta Miauw and Wenting Li as well as Akin alumni Jenn Kitagawa and Jackie Lee will be at Zine Dream exhibiting their work independently.

Art Metropole will exhibit their back catalogue of zines, featuring work by local and international artists collected by the organization over their 45 year history. This extensive zine library will be available to browse and buy at Art Metropole's storefront space on the ground floor of the MOCA all weekend long.

As a bonus you can enjoy free admission to the Museum exhibitions from 10am-2pm while you’re at Zine Dream!

This February the Artist Project will welcome its 12th year with the most exciting show yet. From collectors and curators, to gallerists and designers, visitors will have the opportunity to explore and discover works of art from over 250 top contemporary artists from Canada and abroad. This is a unique opportunity to meet and buy art directly from artists at Toronto’s favourite art fair.

Location: Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place, 195 Princes' Blvd, Toronto

When: February 21st-24th 2019

In addition to the always popular main, untapped, installation zone and the front entrance, this year’s Artist Project will feature a section for zines.

How do I apply?

Apply Online. Jury fee is $25.

How many applicants will be selected?

A maximum of 12 artists will be chosen for the ZINES section.

What is the fee for selected ZINE exhibitors?

There is a $75 fee for selected applicants to participate in Artist Project’s ZINE section. The $25 jury fee will count toward the $75 ZINE exhibitor fee.

When is the application deadline?

Deadline to apply is Monday, January 15th, 2019.

Kwentong Bayan Collective in partnership with the Lillian H. Smith Branch - Toronto Public Library invites you to our Komiks Zine Fair!

Please join us in celebrating Kwentong Bayan's 1 year anniversary of hosting a weekly Comics / Komiks Meet-Up at the library.

There will be lots of activities for all ages including an art-making table, merch displays featuring work by Meet-Up artists, short movies about comics, and a chill reading spot featuring our favorite Filipino komiks!

Kwentong Bayan is a collective of two Toronto-based artists, Jo SiMalaya Alcampo and Akin King member Althea Balmes. Their artistic mandate is to explore a critical and intersectional approach to community-based art, labour, and education. Althea Balmes is a multidisciplinary visual storyteller and artist educator interested in collaborative creative expressions to tell stories and make art.

ZIPE is a free Zine Production and Exchange Program offered by Paperhouse Outreach Collective in partnership with SKETCH Working Arts and Toronto Art Book Fair, for youth and young adults (13-29) who identify as one or multiple: 2SLGBTQIAP, disabled or POC, led by local artists who also self-id as a member of the above communities.


Youth will learn skills such as writing, image making, zines & book making, Risograph printing, how to prep for fairs (sell your art work) + so much more from our wonderful and talented team of artists! PLUS show & tell with Art Metropole AND the opportunity to table at Zine Dream!

Dates: July 3rd - July 28th, 10 Sessions

FOOD + TTC Tokens / Tickets provided for all workshops
LIMITED spots available

Deadline to apply: June 19th 2018

ZIPE 2018 is funded by Toronto Arts Council and Community One Foundation, with support from Art Metropole, Zine Dream, and Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild.
